The Lamplighter School was started in 2008, it is the brainchild of Mr. and Mrs. Keter, the directors, who had a vision to have a child friendly School in Kebulwet area, Trans nzoia County. It stands on 11 acre piece of land. At its inception, it had 43 pupils, 5 teachers with 2 support staff. In 2009, the school admitted 162 more pupils and from that time our school has been having a steady increase of approximately 80 pupils every year.

In 2009, boarding section was introduced; we had 5 pupils who were staying at the director’s home being assisted by Mr. Tarus Isaac and Mrs Maryhilda Chemao as the boarding master and mistress respectively. In 2011, two dormitories were put up and the boarders moved to the school compound. That year, the first batch of 27 candidates sat for their National examinations and we had the best boy Wanyoike Paul with 428 marks and the best Girl Stephanie Swango with 406 marks in Trans nzoia County. As a school of excellence, we produced the best candidate in the North Rift region with 432 marks, Nadia Chepkosgei in 2014.

In 2015, the Lamplighter School recorded the highest mean score of 384 marks with 53 candidates registered. The following year, the school expanded where more classrooms were constructed and more teachers and support staff were employed. In 2017, the school continued being on the map as more learners scored 400 marks and above. The first stored building was also constructed in this year. The 66 candidates of 2018 had a mean of 354 marks and we were position second in the County.
